Leptin levels:
Optimal fasting level= 4-6 ng/dL (up to 9 ng/dL is acceptable)
10 ng/dL is high
HbgA1C (glycosylated hemoglobin)= best level 2-3 microunits/ml
Blood Glucose (8 hr. fast)= 60-85 mg/dL
Fasting Insulin= (8 hr. fast) <5 microunits/ml
Thyroid Function
Basal temperature= 96.8-97.5
IGF-1= 90-360 ng/dL
Ferritin=20-50 ng/ml (above 80 is trouble)
Norepinephrine= 250-350 pg/ml
CRP=< 1mg/L or (0.1 mg/dL)
Triglycerides=<100 mg/dl
Homocysteine=<6.0 micromoles/L ( 6 umol/L)
BUN=17 mg/ dL
Creatine= 0.7-1.0 mg/dL
Uric Acid= 3-7 mg/dL
Liver Enzymes:
(ALP)= 44-147 IU/dL (alkaline phosphatase)
ALT (SGPT)= 5-30 IU/dL (serum glutamic-pyruvic transaminase)
ALT (alanine aminotransferase, formerly SGPT)
AST (aspartate aminotransferase) or SGOT= 10-34 IU/dL
Total Cholesterol: 180-200 mg/dL
Cholesterol Cardiac Risk Factors:
Cholesterol/HDL Ratio= 1-3
HDL%: HDL/Cholesterol X 100=> 29%
LDL/HDL Risk Ratio= 1-3
Triglyceride-to-HDL Ratio= <5 (ideal 2-3)
At least seven of these tests are included in a CBC.
If kidney function is compromised, BUN levels rise above the normal
range of 7-25 mg/dL.
Creatine is a marker for kidney function = 0.7-1.0 mg/dL
The most reliable test for monitoring leptin levels is the
radioimmunoassay (RIM)
which utilizes an antibody that responds to leptin in a fasting
blood sample.
Extremely obese people have extremely elevated leptin levels: 20, 30
or even 40 mg/dL.
IF YOU ARE INSULIN RESISTANT--YOU ARE ALSO LEPTIN RESISTANT.
The non-diabetic HbgA1C range is from 4.5 to 6 percent, and the
lower the level the better.
HbgA1c 5.5 percent-- this means your average fasting blood sugar for
the past 3 months was approximately 100 mg/dL.
HbgA1C 8 percent= average blood sugar of approximately 200 mg/dL.
HbgA1C 11 percent= approximately 300 mg/dL
THIS TEST REVEALS THE RATE OF GLYCATION
LOWER YOUR BASAL BODY TEMPERATURE (BY LOWERING LEPTIN), FOR HIGHER
TEMPERATURES ACCELERATE GLYCATION.
Thyroid:
Leptin is the master hormone that helps to regulate thyroid hormone.
Basal body temperature= 96.8-97.5 or less is optimal.
Insulin promotes the excretion of calcium in the urine. If it is a
high insulin environment, the calcium will simply be washed out of
the body.
High CRP= 4X the rate of CVD.
Central obesity
Visceral adiposity
Homocysteine:
A by-product of the metabolism of methionine. In a process called
methylation, homocysteine is rapidly converted into harmless amino
acids. However, sometimes the methylation process goes awry, and
homocysteine builds up in the blood. This is the bad news, for this
amino acid is extremely irritating to the arteries. It dampens the
production nitric oxide, which protects the endothelial cells of
lining the arteries and allows arteries to dilate. This sets the
stage for atherosclerosis. It also damages the
hippocampus--affecting memory.
Methylation is also critical for DNA repair.
Restrict coffee and methionine rich meat. Get adequate amounts of
folic acid, B6 and B12.
Cholesterol:
Production of steroid hormones and synthesis of vitamin D and bile.
A key structural component of cell membranes.
Too much calicum can be dangerous, disrupting cellular
communication. It is far better to support bone strength by
maintaining the protein matrix. The manufacture of the protein
matrix is dependent on vitamin K and hormones such as leptin;
calcium has little to do with it.
In order to have strong bones, you need to first restore leptin and
insulin sensitivity.
Elevated ferritin (too much iron in your blood), can cause
inflammation and hurt your heart.
The underpinnings of ill health are cellular and biochemical.
All cellular communication is aggravated by insulin and leptin
resistance.
What ever is going on in your body, it always relates back to
hormones and cellular communication.
The NSFD is for those who want the best and want to be the best.
